Hip-Hop U features the story of the University of Wisconsin-Madison First Wave scholarship program. The new documentary from Wisconsin Public Television explores how the pioneering program empowers students to pursue a degree while developing their skills in the hip-hop art forms of spoken word, rap, writing, poetry, singing, producing and acting.
As a lead designer, a created a coherent design for the graphics throughout the film, including a logo, title sequence, full screen graphics, lower thirds, and a pin design.

I created this credit sequence, referencing elements from the film’s narrative. The three pillars of the First Wave program, Arts, Academics and Activism, are symbolized by three lines, which act like a thread through the animation. A laurel of three waves surrounds the title of the film, which is also laid out on a three column grid.

In this hour long PBS documentary, we discover how polka music got to the U.S. and why Wisconsinites still love it, young and old, generations later.
As a lead designer on this documentary, I headed a team of two, creating a modern, yet traditional look.

Since the launch of Wisconsin Public Television’s flagship show Wisconsin Life, I have created a multitude of graphics for segments I have produced and in collaboration with other producers. This hand-drawn piece is a part of a piece exploring an immigrant’s connection with Door County, Wisconsin.

As a designer on Wisconsin Public Television’s news and public affairs magazine show Here & Now, I designed and ran live graphics on Chyron. Additionally, I created infographics in collaboration with journalists and producers.
For this report, I created the storyboard and assets, while coaching our intern, Kayley Hackett, through her first motion graphics project. I believe in giving interns real opportunities to grow. Kayley’s first-ever animation aired on prime time news!
